PICTOU – Paving and waterline work on Haliburton Road is almost complete, say town staff.
Jim Chisholm, town engineer, told council Monday that all the paving is complete and the sidewalk work is nearly complete. He said two new fire hydrants have been replaced and some shoulder work needs to be done.
Council said that once the work is done on Haliburton Road, it is expected to make the necessary changes to Veterans Drive.
In August, town council voted 3-2 in favour of making a 50-metre section of Veterans Drive, between Dunromin Terrace and the Royal Canadian Legion, into a one-way street.
The road will be one-way northbound (heading toward the commercial sector) and will be reviewed in a year to see if it is meeting the goals of reducing traffic and speed in the area.
