Robert Jason MacKenzie is due to appear for a hearing in Pictou Supreme Court on Dec 17.
MacKenzie was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in the death of 33-year-old Nicole Campbell on Dec. 30, 2015.
His trial was expected to start in late May 2018, but it was adjourned when his previous lawyer removed herself from the case because she could not secure the witness she wanted for his defense.
A new trial date was set for January 2019, nearly 3 years from the time of the alleged offence.
Monday’s hearing is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
