One horse died in a barn fire in rural Pictou County on Thursday morning.
The fire happened at a horse farm on Scotsburn Road in Hardwood Hill.
Scotsburn Fire Chief Tim Van Veen said no one was at home when the fire started mid morning. He said one horse died.
Several Pictou County fire departments assisted Scotsburn on the call.
Van Veen said he lives not far from the location and that there have been horses raised there for as long as he can remember.
Several horses could be seen in a pasture.
