The redevelopment of the Aberdeen Hospital’s emergency and pharmacy departments is close to completion.
According to information provided by the Nova Scotia Health Authority, staff successfully moved into the new pharmacy department a last month and began providing pharmacy services to the hospital while the final construction work of the project continued. This work is close to being complete and is expected to be finished by mid- to late-summer.
The two-phase capital project was first started in April 2015 with the new emergency department opening in October 2017.
The completion of the redevelopment project will be celebrated with an event later this year to highlight the opening of the pharmacy department, and to recognize Pictou County’s six municipal units’ commitment to support the redevelopment project and fund 25 per cent ($6.8 million) of the project’s total cost of $32 million.
