The team from Shopper’s Drug Mart dropped into the Aberdeen Hospital’s Women and Children’s Unit recently to check out the newly refurbished chairs for the patient rooms.

With proceeds from Shopper’s “Growing Women’s Health” Campaign, six rocking chairs were re-upholstered and re-finished to meet infection control standards. The chairs enhance comfort during feeding and skin-to-skin contact for mothers and their newborns.

“It is great to know that the funds we raise at our store in New Glasgow enhance services for women’s health right here in our community,” said pharmacist and owner of the New Glasgow Shoppers, Ron Matlock. “We are proud to be part of an organization that allows us to leverage a national campaign to make an impact right here in Pictou County.”

With the combined efforts of Shoppers Drug Mart, its employees, and customers, this donation marks the eighth time that the Aberdeen Health Foundation has been selected as the charity of choice for this annual campaign, with donations now totalling over $21,000 for the Women and Children’s Unit.
