PICTOU, N.S. — A man charged after an accident that killed a 50-year-old woman appeared in Pictou provincial court on June 10.
The crash occured early on June 9 as the victim was walking on the side of the road and was struck and killed by a pickup truck. The woman, who was from Pictou Landing First Nation, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Kyle Francis, 32, also from Pictou Landing, was arrested at the scene. RCMP said in a news release that Francis was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.
In addition to the criminal charge, Francis faces a charge of possession of a controlled substance.
Francis has since been released on $2,500 bail and his plea hearing has been scheduled for the morning of July 22.
