Correction: An earlier version of this story named the Department of Fisheries and Oceans as having jurisdiction in this matter. This is incorrect. The matter falls under the jurisdiction of Public Services and Procurement Canada.

There is a barge turned upside down in the Pictou Harbour.

It’s located just off-shore at the Aecon Shipyard in the town of Pictou, and it’s been there for nearly one month.

An excavator on the barge also went into the water, and it was removed on Oct. 2. There was an oil boom in the water containing any oil spill that might have resulted from the accident, and the Nova Scotia Department of Environment said that the incident did not warrant an investigation.

In any case, this is a matter that falls under the jurisdiction of Public Services and Procurement Canada.

The News has reached out to the department but did not received a response before deadline.

Updates to come.
