NEW GLASGOW, N.S. — The residents of Glen Haven Manor have composed their own Respectful Home Statement with framed documents placed in the four resident care areas of the facility, as well as one in the common area of the Bluenose Dock where resident council and family council meetings as well as many special events and activities are held.
The statement reads as follows:
Glen Haven Manor is our home and our fellow residents become like members of our family to us. We also develop a very meaningful connection with the staff who give of themselves to offer us quality care. Our home must always be warm, comfortable and welcoming. We promise to treat each other, our visitors and the staff with kindness and respect. The staff in turn pledge to offer us compassion and dignity. Here we enjoy friendships and security while creating treasured memories filled with laughter and happiness. Glen Haven is a safe harbour where we celebrate goodness and light. We honour the values of compassion, community, harmony, peace and trust.

“We are proud to call Glen Haven home and we wanted to formally communicate our commitment of respect, kindness and dignity for each other, the staff, our family, friends and community,” says resident council president Linda Mayo.
Resident council brought the statement forward at its council meeting several months ago and approved the statement officially at that time. Since then, the document was designed, framed and placed throughout the facility.
