NEW GLASGOW, N.S. — If you missed the Feb. 22 performance of The Hockey Monologues, don’t despair – you have another chance to see the show.

The Hockey Monologues – The Final Buzzer, will be performed again, this time on March 27 in support of the Pictou County Crushers, who are hosting the peewee AAA Atlantic hockey championship.

When writer and director Colleen Hawley found out the cost of hosting the five-team tournament, she wanted to help.

“I was talking to one of the grandparents who told me the amount they had to raise and the amount of time they had to do it. I wrote these with the intent of using them to raise money for local hockey players, so it seemed like a great next step,” she said.

The Hockey Monologues – The Final Buzzer was originally staged as a fundraiser for the Weeks Major Midget team.

“We are so excited to be hosting Atlantics and for Colleen and her group to be giving us this great fundraising opportunity,” said Robin Dalton, a hockey mom with the Peewee AAA Crushers.

She said the expected budget for the tournament is around $25,000.

The peewee AAA Atlantic championship takes place April 4 to 7 at the Pictou County Wellness Centre. It involves four teams each representing one of the Atlantic provinces, plus the Crushers host team.

Hawley wrote the script in 2017 for her first show “It’s Not Just a Game” – The Hockey Monologues, which was followed in 2018 by The Hockey Monologues – The Second Period. Each one of the shows is a comical look at hockey-related situations based on things the Merigomish resident has witnessed at the rink during the more than 20 years she’s been involved with amateur hockey.

This year Hawley also tried something new and wrote the lyrics for a comedy song about a boy not getting much ice time, called "Riding the Pine," which Matt Fifield wrote the music for and performs.

The Hockey Monologues – The Final Buzzer will take place at North Nova Education Centre at 7 p.m. on March 27. Tickets for the show are $20 each, and can be purchased by contacting Robin Dalton at 902-759-4257.
