DURHAM, N.S. — At the end of a gravel driveway on the Durham Road, there's a place where people can really get lost this month.
"We're going to have a Christmas tree maze, a mechanical bull, pony rides, a petting farm, wagon rides, axe throwing and archery," said Shelby Gatti, owner of Shelby Ranch.
Every weekend leading up to Christmas, Shelby Ranch is hosting Christmas at the Ranch, which will feature activities and entertainment for kids and adults.
From Truro originally, Gatti told The News she's happy to be setting up shop in rural Pictou County.
"I'm super excited. I love it here. It's great to be in an area where you feel like you're off in the country, but you're still so close to so many different communities."
Throughout the year Gatti says the ranch offers riding lesons as well as therapeutic riding and wagon/sleigh rides.
There are 20 horses on the property, which Gatti says have seen a lot of the region.
"They're used to travelling the Maritimes," she said. "They're regulars at different petting farms and are really freindly."
Christmas at the Ranch tickets cost $5 dollars for adults and $10 for kids.
"There's a lot more things for the kids to do, but still stuff for adults," explained Gatti, "and I wanted to keep it affordable for the whole family."
The ticket cost gives access to all of the ranch activities for the day.
