NEW GLASGOW, N.S. — Demolition of the John Brother MacDonald Stadium in New Glasgow began Monday, Jan. 28.
Verhagen Demolition has been contracted to do the work. Currently they are gutting the interior of the building.
The property has been sold to P.Q. Properties which is planning to build an age-friendly housing facility on the property.
The New Glasgow rink was built in 1950 and opened in 1951. It was renamed the John Brother MacDonald Stadium in 2004 after local sports legend John Brother MacDonald. It closed in 2013 after the construction of the Pictou County Wellness Centre.
