New Glasgow-based business Velsoft is welcoming Mathew Knowles, manager of Destiny’s Child and father to Beyoncé and Solange, to Nova Scotia.
He’ll be offering a free master class at the NSCC Waterfront Campus in Dartmouth on Aug. 15 at 1 p.m., and Velsoft CEO Jim Fitt hopes to see people from Pictou County there.
“I think it’s important for our community to have the chance to learn from someone who has gone through all the things that they will go through as they try to make it and become more successful in that field,” Fitt said during an interview.
Knowles, who founded Music World Entertainment and wrote The DNA of Achievers: 10 Traits of Highly Successful Professionals, will discuss how to get into the entertainment business and take questions.
Knowles will also be making an announcement at that time.
“With our educational partner Velsoft, we have created something that will change the way people learn about the music industry,” said Knowles in a press release. “It’s going to be something totally new and exciting that we can’t wait to launch.”
Knowles will also be visiting Velsoft, which develops training materials for their clients, in New Glasgow.
“I think they’re ecstatic. I think they’re very excited that he’s going to be coming and he’s going to be spending time with them as well,” Fitt said about what his employees think of the visit.
Fitt said the company has been discussing what Knowles does, and what they do, over the past year to see if there’s a way to complement each other.
“Our rural company is doing business in the education space all around the world. It has given us the opportunity to do amazing projects with amazing companies, but it has also drawn the attention of other educators that are looking for more innovative and more efficient ways of doing what they do. Mathew found us.”
