Meeka, the dog rescued from a house in Sylvester, Pictou County, has found her “forever home.”

According to a post on the SPCA Pictou Facebook page, Meeka has officially been adopted by the vet who treated her.

“They have formed a wonderful bond and we couldn’t be happier.”

Meeka was found with severe injuries at a house belonging to a man who is currently facing charges of animal cruelty. Several other dogs were found dead on the premises, including a litter of puppies.

On Thursday, March 27 Meeka was at the SPCA hospital for her spay surgery.

“Meeka still has some ailments that will need long-term care, so living with a vet will be ideal for her.”
