The East Coast Kitchen Party is coming back to New Glasgow Academy this weekend and organizers are anticipating another successful event.
“It’s grown into something that people look forward to,” said Tammy MacLaren, one of the organizers of the home and school fundraiser.
With quality entertainment and some upbeat dance music, she said they always draw a crowd and listen to feedback about ways to make the event better.
“It’s always a fun time and it’s for a great cause – for the kids,” MacLaren said.
Proceeds from the event go to support the music program, art program, Panther pantry, mental health initiatives, school trips and more.
“This year we’d like to find age-appropriate guest speakers on the topic of mental health,” said Stacey Munro, another co-organizer of the event.
She said they try to help out with whatever area they can at the school.
“It’s a good boost for programs that they don’t necessarily have funding for.”
Sometimes they top up programs by helping to replenish supplies, such as fresh art material for the art room.
Sponsors for this year’s event are Simpy for Life and Rocklin Parties. Typically, about 300 tickets are sold.
Those interested in purchasing tickets ahead of time can call or text (902) 759-0005. In addition to entertainment, snacks, pizza slices and local liquor will be sold.
