NEW GLASGOW, N.S. – Children shouldn’t be cold during the winter and some Pictou County businesses are asking for local help to make sure they aren’t.
Stone’s RV is once again partnering with Sobeys and Bullrush Communications to hold the annual Coats for Kids campaign.
At Stones RV, on Westville Road, which is serving as one of the drop-off locations, they’re hoping to fill an RV with winter attire, such as coats, snow pants, hats and gloves. While their main focus is on collecting items for children, they’re also accepting donations for adults.
Stone’s RV general manager Greg Park said they typically see between 300-400 people come out to get coats the day of the distribution.
“Living in Canada, we all know that if you don’t have the proper clothing winter is going to be pretty tough,” he said.
Coats will be collected until Nov. 8. They should be clean and have working zippers. Missing buttons can be repaired, but organizers ask that there be no tears.
Distribution will be Nov. 9 at the New Glasgow Fire Hall from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
