CARIBOU, N.S.
A family of five was displaced by a mid-morning fire that gutted their mobile home along a rural road midway between Pictou and Caribou, Nova Scotia.
Pictou County disaster volunteers from the Canadian Red Cross have arranged emergency lodging along with purchases of winter clothing, food and some other basics for a couple and three children, ages 17, 12 and four.
The mother and one child were checked briefly at hospital for smoke inhalation but then released, and there were no serious injuries from the blaze, reported around 9:30 a.m. today at 431 Central Caribou Road.
