A Stellarton man has been charged with obtaining sexual services from three girls under the age of 18.
Police allege that between March 2018 and November 2018, 30-year-old Bryden Joshua Wallace from Stellarton was contacting three girls under the age of 18 from Pictou County, and making arrangements to pay them for sex. All of the incidents, except for one that happened in Cape Breton, occurred in Pictou County.
Wallace has been charged with four counts of sexual assault, four counts of sexual interference, and seven counts of obtaining sexual services from a person under 18. He is scheduled to return to Pictou provincial court May 27.
Cpl. Jennifer Clarke said police had received a complaint from a member of the public and became aware of the alleged crimes. She said it is a bit of an unusual case.
“It’s something I certainly haven’t seen in the last number of years.”
Asked what people can do to help protect their children from situations like this, Clarke said she encourages parents and guardians to make sure they stay in tune with who their children are spending time with, both in person and online.
The investigation is ongoing.
