PICTOU – Some capital projects in the Municipality of the County of Pictou are wrapping up while others have yet to begin.

County staff said Monday during a property services meeting that the Upper Plymouth McLellans Brook sewer project is drawing to a close. Residents will have one year to connect to the new sewer line and staff expect packages outlining details on the connection to be available this winter.

Crews are continuing to work on water projects in Springville Estates and Abercombie as well while tenders are expected to go out for sidewalks in Riverton, MacGregor Avenue and Alma.

Warden Robert Parker said he doesn’t think starting sidewalks near Northumberland Regional High School is a good idea this time of year because students would be forced to walk on the road to get around the construction.

He suggested the work, which could take up to a month to complete, should be done after school is finished in June.
