Pictou Landing teen hospitalized with serious injuries after dirt bike collides with deer

The Southeast District RCMP is investigating following an off-road vehicle crash in Memramcook that left one man dead and another injured.

PICTOU LANDING, N.S. — A 17-year-old has been hospitalized with serious injuries after his dirt bike collided with a deer.

Thursday, July 25 at approximately 4 a.m., Pictou District RCMP responded to the motorcycle collision on Pictou Landing Road.

The teenage boy struck the deer while driving his off-road dirtbike on the road, then left the roadway on Pictou Landing Rd. The teen was taken to hospital in New Glasgow and was later transported to hospital in Halifax with serious injuries. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. An RCMP collision reconstructionist was called to assist in the investigation. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the collision. The investigation is ongoing.
