Karla MacFarlane, MLA for Pictou West, joined with residents of Loch Broom Loop Road on Oct. 1 to ask the government to fix the road that has been neglected for more than four decades.
MacFarlane tabled a petition at Province House Oct. 1.
“Our road is causing damage to our vehicles and I would hardly consider it safe to drive on,” said Erin Cox, a Pictou resident who lives on the Loch Broom Loop Road. “We’ve asked the government time and time again to repair our road, but we’ve been ignored once again.”
Cox is among 97 residents of Pictou West who have signed the petition calling on the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal to maintain and follow through on its commitment to chip seal the Loch Broom Loop Road beginning in 2020 and the following years until completion.
“The residents of this road are tired of pulling money out of their own pockets to repair damaged vehicles because the McNeil Liberals doesn’t see value in repairing their road,” said MacFarlane. “They’ve been neglected for too long and they deserve a safe road.”
