A gold painted carrier trophy is up for grabs for the top team.
The event is planned for Sept. 21 at Glen Lovat golf course with a 1 p.m. tee off.
Money from the tournament would go to support the SPCA with costs to replace their septic system.
“Ours is 35 years old and it’s done,” said Agnes Leavitt, branch manager.
She said it costs on average $10,000 a month to run the shelter here in Pictou County, which is why fundraising events like this are so important.
Tournament organizer, Vince Angst said it’s always a great event. They play 18 holes and power carts as well as a prime rib dinner are included with the cost of registering. Last year there was a tie for first place so two teams got their names on the golden pet carrier. They were Eastern Tire and Team Brannen.
There is also a silent auction during the tournament with prizes donated each year from a lot of local business that makes up the bulk of the money raised, Angst said.
“I would like to thank all the sponsors from the past two years,” he said. “Without them there would not be a tournament.”
He offered special thanks to artist Dan Munroe who donates several original paintings each year.
