A man who is charged with 11 counts of cruelty to animals has had his plea hearing adjourned until June 10.
David Oakley was first charged in February after SPCA officers removed seven dead dogs, including six puppies from a property that he was renting in Pictou County. His original plea hearing had been scheduled for April 29, but the matter was adjourned until May 6.
Oakley, who has filed for designation of council, was not required to be in court. His defence layer, Elizabeth Cooper appeared via tele-conference and asked that the matter be adjourned once again.
"I'm going to be here. We need to be the voice for these animals," said Brenda Gerrior who had helped organize a rally which was held last week demanding harsher penalties for perpetrators of animal abuse.
A dozen people were outside Pictou Provincial Court again on May 6.
