After investigating a report of an alleged abduction at the Aberdeen Shopping Centre, police have determined that no abduction took place.

A charge of public mischief has been made against the 39-year-old woman who made the allegation. She will appear in court at a later date.

On Jan. 20 the New Glasgow Regional Police got a report of an abduction that took place in the parking lot of the Aberdeen Business Centre, near the Giant Tiger store.

In a call with the News, Const. Ken MacDonald said that the New Glasgow Regional Police, and the Pictou County District RCMP performed a thorough investigation and through that investigation, gathered enough evidence to come to the conclusion that the abduction didnt happen.

MacDonald added that, the police therefore had probably grounds to lay a charge of mischief in relation to the misleading information.
