WESTVILLE, NS
Police are still looking for thieves who bilked a Westville company out of two sets of winter tires recently.
Cpl. Ron Bryce said Oct. 31 that no arrests had been made yet in the theft.
On Oct. 17, staff at a car dealership on Balodis Drive in Westville took a call from a woman who wanted to purchase two sets of four winter tires. She provided a credit card number over the phone and said her husband would be there shortly to pick them up.
A man arrived at the business a short time later, picked up the eight tires and left. Soon after he left, staff found out that the credit card used to purchase the tires was stolen. The tires are worth just over $1,500.
The truck is an older light brown GMC Sierra pickup with Nova Scotia license plate U1-5016, and the man is described as white, five-foot-nine with a stocky build. He has a short dark beard and appears to be in his thirties.
Bryce said the license plate had been reported as lost and had not been active for several years. No ownership information on the license plate is currently available to police, he added.
Images of the man and the vehicle believed to have been involved with this incident were captured on surveillance video at the business. Police are requesting assistance from the public to identify him and the woman who used the stolen credit card.
