The Friends of Trenton Park Society is gearing up once again for Trenton FrostFest.
Families, friends and kids of all ages are invited to another fantastic winter family fun day at Trenton Park. Visitors can take a horse-drawn sleigh ride through some of the oldest and most pristine forest in the province, toast a marshmallow at the winter bonfire or give snowshoeing a try. No experience necessary.
Children and guardians can take a self-directed hike on the trails or just try them out around the playground area. The snowshoes at Trenton Park have been quite popular the last few years with many weekends booking far in advance. If you haven’t had the opportunity yet, Trenton FrostFest is the perfect time to try out this great winter activity, organizers say.
Also at FrostFest participants can stop inside the Pavilion Building (behind pool) to warm up at the craft corner and visit the Pictou-Antigonish Regional Library staff on site with Adopt-a-Library books to giveaway. Students from the Trenton Elementary School will once again be creating festive winter decorations for viewing inside the pavilion. Along with the abundance of winter fun, there will be a chance to win family draw prizes. There will also be a concessions stand.
Back by popular demand this year is the Snow Fort Building Party. Special snow hills will be created to help offer the best space for this community snow building area. There will also be some shovels and brick moulds provided but participants can also bring their own supplies.
“Winter attracts a lot of users to Trenton Park,” says Trenton parks and recreation co-ordinator Martin Bates. “Visitors come daily to snowshoe on the trails, exercise with their dogs, and just enjoy the beauty of snow-covered trees. It has a special appeal this time of year.”
