WESTVILLE ROAD, N.S. – Wear dark glasses to shield your eyes: the Ugly Sweater Run is back for another year.
On Dec. 15, community members will sport their best ‘ugly’ sweaters in the most festive and merriest 4k’ish run of the year.
“It is a community event that uses fun, and physical activity to bring people together of all ages,” says Heidi Sinclair, acting executive director at the YMCA of Pictou County.
“As a YMCA, we encourage opportunities for people to connect with each other and what better way than to put on your holiday best, invite your friends and family, bring the beloved family dog and head out for a festive run or walk with 150 other community members.”
The event that gives the option to run or walk will leave from the Pictou County Wellness Centre at 10 a.m. and take ‘Candy Cane Lane’ with holiday surprises along the route.
Awards are given out for Best Sweater, Best Pet Attire, Best Family Outfits, and Best Large Group Cheer.
Everyone is encouraged to register and children seven and under are free.
Registration is available on the YMCA of Pictou County Facebook Event Page. Following the Ugly Sweater Run, the YMCA in partnership with the Wellness Centre will be hosting a free Community Holiday Party with skating, swimming, children’s entertainers, carolers and games. For entrance to the YMCA, remember to bring a photo I.D.
