TRENTON, N.S. — Fire extensively damaged a vacant house on Main Street in Trenton on Monday, Feb. 18.
Firefighters responded to the call around 9:45 a.m. The building was quickly engulfed and smoke could be seen billowing heavily from it.
The building is located next to True Colours Hair Salon and no one was currently living in it, said Const. Ken MacDonald of the New Glasgow Regional Police. A portion of Main Street was closed while firefighters were on scene.
Crystal Treen, who lives near the house the burned, said she had let her dogs out around 9:30 a.m. and thought everything was fine. Then the next time she looked out, there was smoke billowing and she heard fire trucks approaching.
"It's mind boggling," she said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Westville Fire Department assisted Trenton Fire Department on the call.
