WESTVILLE, N.S. — One person escaped without injury after their home caught on fire in Westville on Friday.

Westville Fire and Rescue along with mutual aid partners Alma and Stellarton fire departments were called to the residential fire on Temperance Street, Westville around 5:45 p.m.

Westville Fire Chief Ken Dunn said the firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze in about an hour but there was still extensive damage to the building.

The cause of the fire is unknown, but it did not appear to be suspicious, Dunn said.
