WESTVILLE, N.S. —

Westville mayor Roger MacKay is taking a three-month leave of absence.
Town council approved a motion on July 29; MacKay had requested – and received – the leave to concentrate on other political business.
MacKay is running for the federal Conservatives in Central Nova in the Oct. 21 election, and “over the next several months, I will be campaigning (in the riding),” MacKay said in a letter that was read by deputy mayor Lennie White.
MacKay will not receive his mayor’s salary during that time.
