NEW GLASGOW, N.S. — First Presbyterian Church New Glasgow will be hosting Sean Dayton and his wife Aimee, as they present their unique and inspirational blend of sacred, secular and contemporary music on Friday Oct. 25,

Currently on tour with his Music for the Soul program, Dayton hails from North Bay, Ont. He has been performing and leading worship services and entertaining audiences across Canada, the United States and in England for the past 15 years. He has visited hundreds of churches over the years and has several recordings to his credit.

The couple's goal is to impact people, Christian or otherwise, through music. In developing the Music for the Soul concept, they realized many of the people who attended their concerts had already previously been exposed to worship/gospel music many times over. The idea was born to try to reach people who are outside of the church in a way that is meaningful, inspirational and spiritual.

The result is a carefully curated set list of music that encourages the listener to see the beauty and sacredness all around us. It is a collection of songs about life, love, hope, faith and a reminder that, "Every good gift comes from above." Feedback for the Daytons music has been very encouraging and uplifting so far.

Sean Dayton has released five albums and has garnered several GMA awards and nominations. His interest in music began at a young age and by age 18 he was playing guitar alongside prolific worship songwriter Paul Baloche. He continued to work on his craft, touring North America as a guitar player for a Texas-based youth ministry. He received his training in worship songwriting from Brian Doerksen and has appeared on Canada's national broadcast 100 Huntley Street, and his song "Heartbeat" won first place in the International Songwriting Competition (Gospel/Christian category). His songs have reached the top of the charts on Canadian radio and on iTunes.

The concert will be at 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, at 208 MacLean St., New Glasgow. Admission is $15 for adults, $5 students. Tickets are available at the church office, at H&R Music, Fulmore's Pharmacy in Pictou and at the door.

Funds raised will be used for the First Church Pipe Organ Restoration Fund.
