New Glasgow byelection Saturday for Ward 1 council seat

NEW GLASGOW, N.S. — The Town of New Glasgow byelection for Ward 1 will be held on Saturday, May 4.

Running in the byelection are: Russell Borden Jr., Jocelyn Dorrington, Sharon MacLean and Henderson Paris.

The seat was formerly held by Troy MacCulloch, who stepped down to take a job outside of the area.

Electors can vote between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. May 4 at the Ward 1 Recreation Centre at 487 Brother Street.

An advance poll will be held from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30 at the Ward 1 Recreation Centre.

Mobile polls will also be held Saturday, May 4 for residents of High Crest Home, 253 Forbes Street from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.; High Crest Place, 222 Provost Street from 11:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. and at Glen Haven Manor, 739 East River Road from 2:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Returning officer Josephine MacDonald said there was about 100 people who voted at the advance poll held Saturday, April 27.
