Students who need menstrual products in Nova Scotia public schools are going to have free access to them.

The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development announced the decision in a news release on Tuesday.

All schools with grades four and up will make the menstrual products available to their students soon, the release said. There are 367 schools with about 40,000 students, who could potentially have access.

It will be up to each school to decide how and where the products will be made available. The province will provide posters that include a blank space where school officials can fill in where students can find the products when they need them.
