NEW GLASGOW, N.S. — Former New Glasgow Ward 1 councillor, Henderson Paris, will re-seek a vacant council position.

The seat became available when Troy MacCulloch left to take up a CAO position in Pincher Creek, Alta.

Paris had relinquished his seat when he put his name forward to run in the 2016 mayoral race.

“Having had the amazing opportunity to serve the great residents of Ward 1 for 12 years, I will once again endeavour to ask for their support, faith and trust in me to represent them on New Glasgow’s town council,” Paris said. “In the past I believe that I have worked very hard on their behalf to fully and properly represent them at the council table. I can ensure them without hesitation or reservation that I will bring the same work ethics, time, energy and respect which I have always endeavoured to do with their best interest at the forefront of all my decisions.”

He said his years of experience on council positions him well to fill the vacancy.

“If elected, I will further continue to advocate not only on behalf of my fellow Ward 1 residents, but also on matters of importance that would positively impact citizens of our entire town and county so that we can move positively forward.”

He said there are a few issues that are concerning to him and how they impact the town and its priorities.

“If given the opportunity to represent you on town council I will work on them on your behalf,” he said.

Council has not yet set a date for when the byelection will be held.
