Icy precipitation has been keeping first responders in Pictou County busy on Dec. 17.
On Monday afternoon, a pickup truck travelling westbound on the Trans Canada 104 lost control and struck a transport truck that was travelling east bound. The driver of the pickup suffered minor injuries, but the driver of the transport truck was okay.
A second accident occurred on the Trans Canada 104 near Alma. The driver of a vehicle was travelling eastbound when they lost control and went off the road. He reportedly suffered minor injuries.
A third accident, this one in Salt Springs took place not long after, involving a single vehicle. Injuries are unknown at this point.
Pictou County is currently under a winter storm watch with snowy and icy precipitation expected to continue until Tuesday, Dec. 18.
RCMP Cpl Ron Bryce said drivers should use caution.
“The roads are quite icy and slushy. Anyone on the road should make sure they drive slowly.”
