The small Pictou County community of Meadowville has made the Top 10!
But not in a good way.
Located outside Scotsburn, Meadowville Station Road has been named the sixth-worst road in Atlantic Canada, after CAA Atlantic released the results of its 9th annual Worst Roads campaign earlier this week.
It is one of just two Nova Scotia roads to make the list, the other being South Uniacke Road in Mount Uniacke.
The Top 10
The 10 Worst Roads in Atlantic Canada for 2019 as voted by the public are:
1. Tripp Settlement Road, Keswick Ridge, N.B
2. Waterford Road, Waterford, N.B.
3. Markland Road, Colinet, N.L.
4. Indian Meal Line, Torbay, N.L.
5. New Brunswick 905, Petitcodiac, N.B
6. Meadowville Station Road, Pictou, N.S.
7. Witless Bay Line, Trepassey, N.L.
8. New Brunswick 480*, N.B.
9. South Uniacke Road, Mount Uniacke, N.S.
10. Pine Glen Road, Pine Glen, N.B.
THE VOTES ARE IN
More than 7,000 votes were cast over the three-week campaign this year, and every road in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, P.E.I. and Newfoundland and Labrador was eligible. Votes came from all types of road users, including cyclists, pedestrians, public transit users and motorists.
Road safety is a top priority for CAA Atlantic. Poor road conditions can result in increased vehicle repair costs, insurance claims, work compensation, healthcare costs and wasted time in traffic congestion.
“Every year, our Worst Roads campaign allows the public to identify poor road conditions in their area,” says Gary Howard, Vice President of Communications at CAA Atlantic. “We will now notify government officials of the ten worst roads and hopefully will soon be sharing news on planned repairs and upgrades.”
