NEW GLASGOW, N.S. — NEW GLASGOW – The popular Rotary Tasting with a Twist event is returning this year, this time hosted by the three Rotary Clubs of Pictou County.
The triple threat culinary, beverage tasting and musical experience will be held on Friday, Nov. 22 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Summer Street Industries. All Nova Scotian fare featured this year will include creations by J. Conway Catering, Summer Street Industries and Our Turn to Cook; the products of original Nova Scotian breweries such as Backstage Brewing Company, Stellarton; Two Island Brewing, Parrsboro; Uncle Leo’s Brewery, Lyons Brook, Pictou County; Sober Island Brewing, Sheet Harbour; along with Raging Crow Distillery, North River and wineries, Jost Vineyards, Malagash; Gaspereau Vineyards, Gaspereau Valley; Petite Riviere Winery, Crousetown; and Ship Builders Cider, Windsor as well as the talents of Pictou County singer/songwriter Jon Raven.
Raven, who has recently released a new video Castaway which is garnering great air play across both radio and social media platforms, will offer a rock, country, folk, and americana repertoire. He is a home-grown talent who has attracted fans across North America from his days in Nashville to many recent performances at festivals and venues across the Maritimes.
“We are excited as Rotarians from the New Glasgow, Pictou and Westville Rotary Clubs to join forces to host this popular tasting event that celebrates a great selection of Nova Scotia made food and refreshments,” says Lisa M. Smith, co-chair of Tasting with a Twist. “Products made right here in our own backyard in Nova Scotia are top notch and this is a chance to show our pride in the world-class flavours that are placing our province front and centre on the international culinary stage.”
“We combine the culinary and refreshment aspect with great music and the opportunity, to not socialize but also to dance,” adds fellow co-chair Donna MacLane. “It promises to be a wonderful event that celebrates Nova Scotia as well as the work of Rotary. Profits made from the event will support both community and international charitable projects endorsed by the three Rotary clubs. Check our Facebook page as more vendors continue to be added to the event.”
Tickets are $40 each and may be purchased at Big Al’s, New Glasgow; Scotia Bank Westville and Fulmore’s PharmaChoice, Pictou. Tickets are also available on line through eventbrite.ca.
