RCMP and the office of the fire marshal are investigating after two cars were destroyed and three damaged in a fire in Coldbrook early Thursday.
Police said Thursday afternoon that the fires are considered suspicious, and they are working to obtain surveillance video from the owner of the business.
Kentville firefighters were called to an automobile service business on Highway 1 shortly after 4:20 a.m.
When they arrived, they found two vehicles engulfed in flames. The fires were extinguished before they could spread further, but three vehicles parked behind them on a neighbouring property were damaged by the heat. Those vehicles were owned by a used-car dealer.
One of the neighbouring vehicle’s back window blew in and a large portion of the back was melted, while another had blistered paint and a melted tail light. The third had a melted tail light and some trim was damaged.
There were no injuries. Traffic on Highway 1 was shut down for about an hour.
