ANTIGONISH, N.S. — Angus MacDonald, a resident of Arisaig, Scotland and author of Ardnish was Home and We fought for Ardnish is visiting the Strait region as part of a brief tour of Nova Scotia
The author, who is steeped in the history of Lochaber and Highland storytelling, will make stops at the Judique Community Centre (July 23) and Antigonish Heritage Museum (July 24), both at 7 p.m.
With visuals, MacDonald will talk about the life and times of the Highlander, their way of life, where they immigrated and why.
He will discuss his books, which follow the Gillies family from a remote peninsula over three generations, their experiences in love and war. The books, especially We fought for Ardnish, have a strong Nova Scotian involvement.
The third book in the Ardnish trilogy is due early 2020.
"The 19th and early 20th centuries saw massive depopulation from the Highlands, with the people of Lochaber heading towards the Maritime Provinces in particular. The novels are fictional but are historically correct and hope make the history fascinating and alive to all ages. I’m greatly looking forward to my tour," MacDonald said in a press release.
Books, which are $16, will be available to be signed.
