Pictou County – The Carillons Singers will present a special 25th anniversary concert on Saturday, June 15 at the Merigomish School House, 1682 Shore Rd., Merigomish, beginning at 7:30 p.m. 
'Women in Song' will feature Carillon favourites, from haunting chants to lively pop songs.
Founded in 1993 under the musical leadership of director Jennifer Grout and accompanist Marilyn MacDonald, the Carillons are a choral ensemble of female musicians and vocalists. The group is presently under the direction of long time Carillon Vivi Chediac and accompanied by the talented Karen Crowley. Their unique blend of voices gives life to songs of varying styles, eras, and languages. 
The Carillons have been privileged to sing under the direction of internationally renowned conductors and to participate in vocal workshops. They have performed in many venues in Pictou County and the Maritimes.  Often collaborating with other musical and artistic forces, they have been featured in Magdalena Randal's cinema poetry film, Scene from Above, Sound From a Bird.  In 2017, they had the pleasure of accompanying internationally renowned Soprano, Maesha Brueggergosman for two dates of her "Songs of Freedom" Canadian Tour. 
Light hors d'oeuvres will be served and a cash bar available. This is a 19-plus event. Tickets are $20 can be purchased from any Carillon Singer, by phoning (902) 616-5141 or at Chediac Furniture in New Glasgow.
