Businesses evacuated after bomb threat overheard on Halifax bus

HALIFAX, N.S. — Police in Halifax are at the scene of a bomb threat after a suspicious conversation was overheard on a bus.

At about 2:30 p.m. Thursday, a man was travelling on a Halifax Transit bus when he overheard two men talking about putting a bomb in The Village at Bayers Road Shopping Mall at 7071 Bayers Road.

According to a release, officers are on scene searching the area and the K-9 Unit has been requested, but nothing suspicious has been found.

Businesses in the area were evacuated as a precaution.

Police are speaking with the witness and hoping to locate the two men, who are described as white and in their thirties.

The investigation is continuing, and anyone with information is asked to call police at 902-490-5020 or send an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers.
