Social worker elected councillor in Port Hawkesbury special election

This bridge, designed and fabricated through a collaboration involving consultant WSP, Strait Engineering, Mulgrave Machine Works and the Town of Port Hawkesbury, was installed Monday near Grants Pond. It is the first physical component of the Destination Reeves Street project and will be part of an active transportation corridor in Port Hawkesbury.

PORT HAWKESBURY, N.S. – Blaine MacQuarrie has won the vacant seat on the Town of Port Hawkesbury’s municipal council after a special election held Dec. 15.

Unofficial results for the election are:

  • Blaine MacQuarrie: 476
  • Dave Ryan: 359
  • Michele Tabensky 289
  • Maris Freimanis 103

The special election was called due to a former councillor moving out of town.
