Trio face drug charges after police search New Glasgow business

NEW GLASGOW

Three people have been charged with drug trafficking following a police search of a New Glasgow business.

Pictou County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit, with the assistance of New Glasgow Regional Police, executed a search warrant Monday at 1:20 p.m. at the Scotia Green Dispensary on East River Road, New Glasgow.

As a result, police say a large amount of cannabis marijuana, cannabis resin, cannabis edibles and an undisclosed amount of cash was seized by police. Police arrested a 32-year-old man from Mount Uniacke, a 56-year-old woman from Trenton, and a 43-year-old woman from Pictou. The women were both charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cannabis marijuana, possession for the purpose of trafficking cannabis resin, trafficking cannabis marijuana and trafficking cannabis resin. The man is facing one count of production of a controlled substance along with two counts of trafficking and two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

The accused were released on undertakings and will appear in court at a later date. Police say the investigation is ongoing and other changes are pending.
