UPDATED: Police arrest man who drove into New Glasgow hotel

A 53-year-old man was arrested and is facing charges of impaired driving in connection with a motor vehicle collision at New Glasgow hotel Friday at 3 p.m.

New Glasgow Regional Police said they arrested a man after his 2008 Mazda 3 drove through the side of Travelodge Suites, into a ground floor of the building, on the Westville Road.  The car was inside a hotel room with just the back end sticking out through the wall.  The man, whose name has not been released by police, was arrested at the scene and transported to hospital by EHS.

No other injuries were reported.  There is extensive damage to the building. The police investigation continues.

New Glasgow, N.S.

A car drove into the Travelodge Suites on Westville Road in New Glasgow Friday, Oct. 19 afternoon.

First responders were called to the scene around 3 p.m. A car could be seen inside a hotel room. It appears to have driven through the wall. The driver of the vehicle was taken to the Aberdeen Hospital by ambulance. The car has now been removed from the building.

No other information is known at this time. Check back for updates

The hotel is the same one that a man was fatally injured in on Sept. 7.
