NEW GLASGOW/MERIGOMISH – Albert George Foote, 86, Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, formerly of Merigomish, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by his loving family. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late George William and Mary (Randall) Foote. Albert was a member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Merigomish where he served as a life member of the Session. Prior to ill health, he served as an usher and caretaker of the church as well as Merigomish Cemetery. Albert was employed as a school bus driver for the Pictou District School Board from 1965-1996. He was a member of Hudson Lodge No. 77, A.F. & A.M., Thorburn. Albert enjoyed a deep appreciation for the land and sharing its produce with his family. Surviving are daughter, Ann Foote (Jason Roy), Merigomish; son, Stephen (Vivian Soetikno) Foote, Markham, Ont.; grandchildren, Albert and Ernest Foote, Christopher and Alexander Harper; sister, Alice McKinley, Penniac, N.B.; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by wife, Iris Gwendolyn (Church) Foote; sister, Emeline Oulton; brother, Fred Foote. The family will receive visitors 6-8 p.m. today in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held in the chapel 11 a.m. Friday with Rev. Pat Rose officiating. Interment will be in Merigomish Cemetery, Merigomish. Donations may be made in Albert’s memory to St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church or Merigomish Cemetery. www.pkmacdonald.ca
