David Wayne Dewey

David Wayne Dewey
DEWEY, David Wayne David Wayne Dewey, age 56, passed away suddenly of a rare form of stroke on Monday, November 11th, 2019, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. David is survived by his wife, Krista (Gee); daughter, Kaitlyn Marion Gee; and son, Benjamin Clyde Gee of Fall River, Nova Scotia. David is also survived by his father, Charles Gilbert; mother, Georgie, of Trenton, Nova Scotia; sister, Mary Ellen (Allan MacKay) of Maine, USA; brother, Robert (Sherma) Dartmouth; and nephews, Ryan (Sarah) and Christopher (Maeve). He is predeceased by his mother-in-law, Shirley Gee and grandparents, Clyde and Annie Munsie and Charles and Agatha Dewey. Raised in Trenton, Nova Scotia, ‘Dave Dewey’ was enterprising and loved to figure out how things worked, starting his own Dewey Bicycle Works business at the tender age of 16. David and Krista Gee were constant companions since their first year at Mt. Allison. They were married in 1989, after he graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce. He started his career at Atlantic Wholesalers in Sackville, New Brunswick. After moving to Dartmouth Nova Scotia, he earned his CPA, CMA and worked at Mills Brothers, before he spent the next 20 years with NSCC (Director of Financial Services). Always looking for ways to help others, he patrolled Ski Martock with his son Benjamin, bonding with many other ski patrollers. He naturally volunteered his many talents to strangers, friends and colleagues. He was as comfortable in the boardroom as he was in his workshop. Ultimately, David was a family man. He treasured time spent with his family above all else and was most happy in their company. He taught, nurtured, and protected his kids, was always heavily involved in their lives, and was exceptionally proud of them and all of their accomplishments. Still making a difference, his organs are saving lives. David’s family would to thank the doctors, nurses and technicians of the Halifax Infirmary for their attention and care. David's celebration of life was held on Sunday, November 17, 2019, with Rev. Ivan Gregan, who married Krista and David, officiated. A reception followed at the church. Donations may be made to the NSCC Foundation to establish an award in David’s memory. https://support.nscc.ca/DavidDeweyMemorial
