Donald (Don) Reid Rogers

Donald (Don) Reid Rogers
At the age of 78, Don unexpectedly passed away at his home on 12 August 2018. Born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Don came to Ontario in 1959 and learned the trade of sign lettering. He married his former wife (Bev Rogers) in 1962 and together they founded Signet Signs. A gifted self-taught musician, Don sang and played guitar, harmonica, accordion, banjo and the organ. He was a joker with a dry sense of humour who loved country tunes, nature and Formula 1. Don was passionate about restoring and showing vintage vehicles. Don was much appreciated by the Town of Whitby and the Durham Region and donated many signs for local charities. He had 50+ years of dedication to the Masons & Shriners in Oshawa. Predeceased by his mother Maxine and brother Gordon, Don is survived by his sister Darlene; daughters Tracey of Monaco and Laurie (John) of Tatamagouche, N.S.; grandchildren Reid, Bailie, Jackson, and Abbie; great grandson Bentley; nieces Kim, Angela and Tanya; nephews Darrin and Mark and cousin Richard. Don is already missed by his four-legged companions Moxie & Plywood and other human friends in Canada and abroad. A celebration of life is being planned for Don. For more information, please email [email protected]. Memorial donations gratefully accepted in Don’s name by the Shiners Hospital for Children Canada: 1-800-361-7256 (Ext 8545) and the Canadian Down Syndrome Society 1-800-883-5608.
