NEW GLASGOW – Dorothy May Fisher, 89, Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, September 10, 2018. Born in Springhill on September 20, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Seibert Raymond and Elsie (Chell) Fisher. Prior to retirement, Dorothy was employed with the former K-Mart, having previously been employed with Al Cameron’s, Singer, Mitchel Furs and McCarron’s Tea Room. She was a faithful member of the Gospel Hall assembly, where she taught Sunday school for many years, and was a stalwart servant of the Lord, since accepting His gift of salvation as a young girl. Although she never had children of her own, she was “Mother” to all her nieces and nephews. Dorothy was “always there” for her siblings throughout the years. She was a caring sister and aunt, never forgetting a birthday. Dorothy enjoyed sewing, gardening, skating, painting and spending time with her family. Surviving are sisters, Elsie Freeman, Pictou Landing; Pauline Chapman, Hopewell; Greta (Cecil) Hatt, Stellarton; Betty Fisher, Ontario; brother, Gordon (Ruth) Fisher, Bridgewater; her many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by twin sister, Doris; brothers, Chelbert and Harold; sisters-in-law, Gerry, Betty and Barb; brothers-in-law, Norman “Mike” Freeman, Gordon Cummings, and Cecil Chapman. The family will receive visitors 1 – 2:50 p.m. Friday, September 14th in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. with Mr. Bill Watson officiating. Interment will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. www.pkmacdonald.ca
