Harriet Llewellyn

Dartmouth/Hillside - Harriet Elizabeth (MacKean) Llewellyn, a long-time resident of Hillside, passed away Thursday the 24th of May at Shannex Glasgow Hall. Harriet will be lovingly remembered by her children, Helen (Allen) and Donna (Steve). Harriet will also be fondly remembered by her six grandchildren, Cheryl, Gwen, Glenn, Brent, Mark, Stephanie; six great grandchildren; and son-in-law, Ross. Harriet was predeceased by her daughter, Christine Ann; her husband, Dean Reid Llewellyn; sisters, Katherine and Euphemia; brothers, Willis, Francis and John.  Born in 1932 in Hillside, Pictou County, NS, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Harriet (Falconer) MacKean. Harriet was activity involved in the Hillside Girls Club for many years. She was a member of First United Church Trenton, Hillside Seniors Club, and the Former Hillside Hall. Harriet loved needlework and many other crafts. She was known for her rugs and quilts, and had a sharp sense of humor that could catch you off guard. Harriet and Dean spent many weekends camping and fishing in Cape Breton. Harriet dedicated herself to family, and enjoyed cooking for them at large gatherings. Many thanks to the staff and friends at Shannex Glasgow Hall for all the care and loving friendship. A funeral service in memory of Harriet will be held on Saturday, June 2nd, 2018 at 1 pm, at R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave, New Glasgow, NS, with Rev. Dr. Ken MacLeod officiating. There will be no visitation. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Harriet to Diabetes Canada in lieu of flowers. Condolences may be sent by visiting: www.rhporter.ca
