He moved on with a short term in the loan management field only to come back to the labour field as a negotiator with the Nova Scotia Government Employees Union, sometimes negotiating contracts against his wife in management. Dannie worked with NSGEU for a number of years. Dannie was a man of trust, dignity and commitment, shown by his being able to move from labour to management. He ended his career as Chief Negotiator with the Nova Scotia Department of Labour, retiring in 1998. Dannie was a great golfer, starting at a very young age, and was a member at the Amherst Golf Club. He was inducted into the Pictou County Sports Hall of Fame for his participation in hockey in the 1950's. Dannie was an active volunteer with the local Food Bank.
