James Jackson — Pictou

James Jackson
James Ernest Jackson, 67, of Pictou passed away peacefully at home on January 02, 2019. Born in Glace Bay he was predeceased by his father James Jackson, mother Nora [Lee] Jackson, brother Arthur Jackson, and sister-in-law Dorothy [MacMullen] Jackson. He is survived by his wife Peggy [Rudolph] Jackson, son Jamie Lee Jackson [Shayna Griggs], Pictou, step-children Ben Scanlan [Ashleigh MacKenzie], Pictou, Melissa Scanlan, Dartmouth and several nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Jimmy was proud to be a Cape Breton Coalminer like his father and his father before him. He worked mostly at Prince Mine and Twenty-six Colliery and assisted in the search for survivors during the Westray Mine Disaster of 1992. He enjoyed camping and travelling with his family. His greatest passion was driving. He drove coal trucks for Devco, drove Bus for Sydney Transit as well as for private owners. He also drove Shuttle, his own and others for many years enjoying the medley of people he met along the way. Being a great talker himself he loved to hear the many interesting tales of the travellers. He was a proud and active member of the Fellowship for his last fifteen years. He was greatly loved, and always loyal. Interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations in his name may be made to your local SPCA or CARMA chapter.
